Copper's Story of Slipped Disc
Copper, a 7 year old Doxie, had a slipped disc in his neck (C2-C3). He had a difficult recovery, but eventually recovered 100%. His owner, SS, wrote a very long and very touching letter, -summarized below:
“This is one of the greatest stories of my life. (…) Copper has been there for me through some really tough times in my life. (…) So when Copper (had a sore neck), I was there for him. I researched some surgeons. This is when I decided on Valley Central in Whitehall, PA. Dr. Zeltzman was the hands I wanted to leave Copper in.
(…) During our consultation, Dr. Zeltzman explained everything to me, -good and bad outcomes-, but he made me feel I was going to do the right thing.
(…) The next day, Copper had surgery to remove a disc in his neck. (…) The nurses were great and very informative every time I called or visited Copper during his stay at the hospital. I can’t thank all the nurses enough. I feel they are the greatest bunch of caregivers in the world. They truly love their jobs and you can tell by seeing them interact with the pets.
(…) Two days after coming back home, Copper was trying to stand for a few minutes at a time. Everyday, I saw a great improvement.
(…) I kept faith in Dr. Zeltzmans work and Copper’s strength to bounce back to health
Guess what - I now have my old boy back and he’s running and playing tag with his little 4 year.old brother Tod, a black and silver dachshund.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for having compassion for our 4 legged family member. I appreciate everything you and the staff at Valley Central have done for Copper. To see Copper today only 2 months after surgery, you would not believe he ever had surgery, except for the patches of missing hair were the pain patches were placed.
I will always have you Dr. Zeltzman and the staff to be thankful for. (…) I would also like to say that I will recommend you, Dr. Zeltzman, and your staff, to everyone I know
You all are the greatest, most caring people I know. Thanks again.”
ONE YEAR LATER, SS WRITES:
"Just wanted to say thanks to everyone at Valley Central. Almost a year has past and Copper is doing wonderful. I made the right choice to bring Copper to your care. You all will be in my prayers this Thanksgiving. I feel very blessed to have people like you in my life, and Coppers life. Thank you all and may God bless and keep you safe for a long long time."
