Jackson's Story of ACL Tear and TPLO

Jackson, a 9 year old Bernese mountain dog, had a TPLO to address an ACL tear in his knee. A few weeks later, his owner noticed some lumps all over his body. An exam and a fine needle aspirate of his lymph nodes were sad but clear: he has lymphoma, a fairly common type of cancer. Chemo was started… which did wonders for the lymphoma but was a concern because it may slow down healing of the TPLO.
A month after surgery, his owner JD writes:
“Dear Dr Zeltzman, (…) Jackson has responded very well to his first dose of chemo. His lymph nodes are at normal size as of today. (…) Jackson’s knee is recovering very well! Thank you for everything you have done for us.”
